More Finals

I think i will be prepared for my finals because of school resources. I was at the library almost everyday getting ready for finals. Without the library i probably would have been in my room procrastinating the whole time.

finals week

This was basically a busy week for me and everyone around me. I was either doing homework or studying for finals all day. I want to start my break already.

Campus Event: Music Concert

I went to a music concert located at the concert hall. It was on Monday November 30, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. They made music out of several instruments. Some instruments were made, like flower pots and plastic tubs. The music was performed by the percussion ensemble. I like the whole event because i have a passion for music. I appreciate all types of music and i am always surrounded by music, which is why it is such a big part of my life. I enjoyed seeing he variety of instruments that were being played in all t he different pieces. Some pieces had more instruments than others but they all sounded great.

Campus Event: Basketball

One campus event i went to was the first basketball game of the season. This game was kind of exciting since it was the first game. What made it more exciting was the fact that the Spartans won the game. It would have been a lot more exciting if there were more people there. I Saw Arlin there as well. It was kind of exciting to see them play because i knew someone on the team and i always like seeing my friends playing sports, especially if they do good. The team looked pretty good on the court, but it might have only been because they were playing a weak team.

Muse workshop with President

I went to this workshop along with the rest of the class. In this workshop there were a lot of questions for the president and the dean of the school. There were also several questions that the audience got to ask. Most of the questions were about the budget cuts and how bad the economy was and how that was affecting the way the school operates. There was a lot of discussion on students and how a lot of students are not going to be able to attend San Jose State Next year and over the next few years. Overall this workshop was very informative.

Because of my constant procrastination, i always have a lot of work to turn in at one time and i have to work on it all at the same time. Next year i will have a busy schedule so i will for sure manage my time better.

I am always tempted to skip class if i am too tired or if i just do not feel like going. Even though i am tempted i rarely miss class.

Uppers, Downers, and All arounders workshop

This workshop was about drugs and the various affects of them. I learned The different kinds of ways that different drugs affect different people. I also learned how addictive different drugs can be and that caffeine is more addictive than crack cocaine. I also learned the different groups that different drugs belong too and how they are categorized. They are categorized by the different affects that you get from the drugs. Overall i thought the workshop was very informative and very interesting.

My parents always stressed how much college is compared to high school so they did what they could to try to get me prepared for the challenges that i am going to face. It would not have hurt to have been a little more prepared.

It was very important for me to ask for help this week. Not only teachers but also friends. Since my computer is broken i've had to borrow computers. I've also need rides to several places so i have to ask my roommate to take me there.

Peer mentor and senior interview

I thought that it was a very good idea to interview the senior and peer mentor. There were many questions that I had that had got answered. I thought the most useful information was hearing how they manage their time because I think that is my biggest issue with school. I also learned about the kind of help I can get at SJSU. If I ever need help with any homework I think I will now go to the learning center. I also learned about some of the steps I need to take to do well in college so I can get a degree.
I think one thing that could have made the interview better for me is if there was someone from my major in the room with us so I can ask questions directed towards my major. I most likely would have asked more questions because I could always use more information on my major. I think it could have also been better if we did not record our questions and the answers because it would have game the mentor and senior more time to think about the question because they would not have felt rushed. We could have also focused on the information they provided rather than how to make it sound good. It was still very useful and I definitely learned a lot about how to handle certain situations.

Even though i have been very busy with homework i was able to focus on most of my homework, but not everything. Unfortunately i missed a few assignments but i will still make them up.

This week i learned just how useful the resources on campus are. Without the learning center i would not have gotten half of my homework done.

The most important thing right now is registering for classes for next semester, which is why i need to see an adviser. Everybody should see an adviser before they register for classes.

The closer we come to the end of school the more stressed i become. All the projects and papers and final assignments are due. This is the time to get caught up

For me it's always important to know how my instructors teach so i can adapt to take better notes and pay more attention in class to understand what the instructor is saying.

Today a teacher tried to tell me the right way to take notes, which i think is bullshit. Not everybody takes notes the same way because everybody thinks differently so everybody uses a method that works best for them.

Script

Intro: have previews? title: The Match? prologue? have pictures, videos of boxing ring, checkers, chess, boxer 1, trophies, awards, flashback, gloves, shoes, etc Music: something intense


Beginning: Boxer 1 walks through a vacant alley way. the setting is dark, gloomy, cold. Camera man focuses in on boxer walking and the location. There is a trainer leaning/sitting in a corner awaiting for Boxer 1 to walk by him. trainer is wearing dark clothes and looks suspious. Camera man zooms in on the look on trainers face.


Trainer: Hey Son, you interested in doing my a favor?
Boxer1: in a confronted way- what?
trainer: I need someone to help me win this battle. Its a rivial match.
Boxer1: what do i need to do?
trainer: just listen to my intructions. ill give you all the training you need to survive.
Boxer1: ahh...aight than.


Transitions to boxing training room.


trainer and boxer1 train crazy. camera man shows boxer running, lifting, doing polymetrics, eating right, etc.


Trainer: Push it son....Dont give up...
Boxer 1: in pain.


Transitions to official rivial match.


The lights and area. The music is intense. the roar of the crowd. Boxer one gets pumped up in the locker room. he puts on his gear and the trainer tells him your the chosen one. As the boxer one walks out to the ring, he sees his competitor.


As boxer 1 walks up onto the ring he notices a table with a chess board on it!

100 word about video project

I think that it is going to be a fun and education experience making out movies. I think we currently have a good idea about the match ending up being checkers but it could definately use work to make it as funny as possible. I have some experience speaking so its not gonna be hard to get in front of the camera and i also have experience putting movies together so i will be in charge of making the final video. I am excited to use all we learned about making videos and camera angles and scripts in making the video. It's definately going to be a good experience making this video.

I often do not pay much attention in my classes because i get bored easily so i end up day dreaming. I pay less attention in bigger classes because there are so many students the teacher only talks to the class and not students as individuals.

I currently have a paper that is due next week. From my experience i learned that it is always better to do something as best you can instead of doing it halfway. I also learned that you should only work on your paper and not let anything else distract you.

One boxer is determined to beat his opponent and he traines as hard as he can. When it comes down to the actual fight it ends up being something simple like checkers.

everyone faces thousands of decision every day. When i have to make a decision i focus on the pros vs. the cons. If the outcome seems to do more good then bad then i will go through with it. I often make decisions without thinking which is a habbit i need to get over.

I think that i have a very random mind. I often find myself thinking about something and end up thinking about something completely different and random and i forget how i get to what im thinking about.

Today Professor dan was not in class so we talked about ways to improve the class and we also played several games. The games were interesting and actually pretty fun.

In class we learned about several things. One topic was the topic of plagiarism. Plagiarism is when you take someone elses work and say it's your own. I will do whatever i can not to plagiarize because i kno that you can get in a lot of trouble for plagiarism in any school.

There are always ways that i can improve my writing skills. I tend to be too wordy when im writing. The best way to improve your writing is to go see someone to help you out.

organization 9/16

I have not been very organized. I do not have a planner and i do not keep very good track of my papers. So far i do not think i've missed any assignments but you never know. That just means i can afford to miss some in the future.

Roomate 9/14

It's been really easy living with my roomate. We stay hanging out with eachother and we always got eachothers backs. It's the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

College life 9/9

It seems like all my teachers decided to give me homework at the same time. I was able to get all my work done, but it took me a long time to finish. I don't think it was a good idea to go to my cousins house when i had so much homework.

MLK Library

The information we received at the MLK Library was very useful information that I know I will be able to use in the future. I think that some of the most useful information was the information about the databases. I was able to use the Contra Costa databases in high school so I know how helpful they can be when writing a paper. I also thought that it was important to learn about looking up books in the SJSU catalog. It’s going to make my job of finding a book in the library a lot easier because now I can just look it up online. Everything we learned at the MLK library was useful information. I will definitely be visiting the library and the website a lot more now.

My weekend pt. 2 9/7

During the weekend i went home. It was a crackin weekend because it was my friends birthday party. We drove around and chilled at hella different places. We had to cause chaos wherever we went, but the cops had to be a buzz kill. Happy 18th Brodi!

transition to college 9/2

So far the transition to college has not been too bad. Since i was taking college classes in high school i am kind of use to the work that i have been doing here at SJSU. I know the work is going to get harder but I'm prepared.

My weekend 8/31

My weekend was pretty fun. My two friends, Jaron and Kevin, nd my brother, Michael, came over. We went to several parties and met a plethora of new people.

Group discussion

Everybody in our group had different experiences. One person got cut off two times in a row. Someone else got hurrassed by a group of boys. Another member of the group had a trouble obtaining classes for the semester. I happen to get caught the first day i arrived here at San Jose State.

First Week 8/26

So far college has not been too hard but i do not think that i started off my time here at San Jose State very well because i got in trouble the first day i arrived. I managed not to get in trouble for the rest of the week, but i still have the rest of the year to make up for it.
